Community Service is an integral part of Mount Bell Academy’s teaching philosophy. We envision all students to achieve their full potential, but to do so they can not do it alone. We tell our students, “Be a leader who cares about the community and the community will lift you up. This is how you reach the top of the mountain and ring the bell that all can hear.”
We want our students to become the BELL. To Be Engaged Life-long Learners & Leaders whose voice and actions guide, teach and inspire others! One of the most powerful ways a person can achieve this is through community service.
At Mount Bell Academy, students learn how to develop service as a way of life. Through school driven and individually driven projects, students demonstrate citizenship and leadership skills, develop the ability to work in a diverse environment and learn the steps it takes to initiate social change. Students also learn the fundamental importance of respecting the dignity of ALL. Ultimately students become “Upright-Citizens” which is a student learning outcome goal at Mount Bell Academy. Most importantly, students find reward within themselves. The self-fulfillment they achieve through their philanthropy and knowing they have made a substantive difference in the community builds esteem and character.
